Sukkot Services/Schedule
The week-long harvest festival of Sukkot commemorates the dwelling of the Israelites in tents during their 40-year journey in the Sinai desert. It is customary to construct a sukkat—a covered and decorated open air “tent” for Sukkot. We eat meals and sleep in the sukkah, and shake the etrog—a type of citrus—and lulav—a palm frond, myrtle, and willow branches bound together. Har Zion preschool children traditionally decorate the Lieb Family Sukkah with schach, fruits, and handmade decorations every year.
