About Us

We are a dynamic and thriving, warm and welcoming, diverse and spiritual 240 member family multi generational community, serving the Jewish communities of River Forest, Oak Park, west Chicago, the Loop, and the Western Suburbs (all the way to Naperville).

We are traditional and turned the future.

We are a community where everyone will know your name.

We have members from all backgrounds and feature innovative adult education to encourage everyone in their Jewish journey to bring more Jewish meaning into their home and lives. See our inspiration page and our Rabbi’s bio.

We are a home for prayer and Jewish arts and culture. See our Jewish Arts and Culture schedule and Cantor’s page.

We strive to meet your intellectual needs with our monthly theme based jewniversity adult-ed curriculum (see programming page and Director of Education page) and your spiritual needs with jewish meditation, moving worship, and inspiring messages.

Children are our future! From our preschool with award winning teachers, to our KRS religious school with a 75% retention rate post bar/bat mitzvah and individual attention for bar and bat mitzvah, to our tot Shabbat and young family events, we will help inspire your family with Judaism and fun!

We take diversity seriously. We have welcomed many Jews of different backgrounds to our congregation for years. The Rabbi and our education team work to meet every member and family where they are. We are especially devoted to welcoming interfaith families and have been featured in national Jewish news outlets for our efforts (click here).

Our Gropper stained glass windows (click here) are world class (Yes, really.) and illuminate our social hall and sanctuary (when the bima is pulled back by its unique on rails system). We are also the proud home of other works of public Jewish art, like our new Engen tapestries (click here) and Milton Horn Sculptures (click here). In our of our largest public events, we received a commissioned copy of the famed four chaplains painting (click here).

If you are new to the area or exploring moving to Oak Park River Forest, click here on why the area was voted one of the top places to live in the United States.

We will be proud to welcome you into our community by introducing you to other members and helping you find your place within our many events, services, and functions. In these unprecedented times, we are welcoming new virtual members from across the country to join our community for all of our events and services.
